Objective (1): Maintaining and strengthening of the innovative programme of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Gezira:
Strategies:
1.1. Designing, planning and conducting of periodic curriculum review, evaluation and development. 1.2. Monitoring of the programme through periodic programme evaluation. 1.3. Continuously monitoring staff and students feedback on methods of teaching and evaluation. 1.4. Supporting curriculum review and development. 1.5. School accreditation
Designing, evaluating and developing health professions education curricula inside and outside the university.
Objective (2): Innovation and development of medical and health professions education programmes and improvement of the overall quality of education:
Strategies:
2.1. Designing, evaluating and developing health professions education
curricula inside and outside the university.
2.2. Quality promotion of teaching and learning:
2.2.1. Production of media-based materials: meant to
- enable the faculty to cope with the increased student intake
- Help student to acquire and cultivate the ability to work
independently.
- improve the quality of learning experience without a concomitant increase in teaching hours.
2.2.2. Maintaining and improving the basic skill laboratory.
2.2.3. Training of staff and relevant personnel in the design, development and production of media-based educational materials.
2.2.4. Developing and maintaining a positive teaching environment.
2.3. Development and implementation of a strategy for arabization of the curriculum.
Objective (3): Training and continuous development of teaching staff of the Medical and Health Professions Faculties in the country and abroad:
Strategies:
3.1. Improving the teaching capability and skills of staff members to keep pace with new developments in medical education and modern teaching methods by conducting regular workshops and training course:
- Curriculum development and educational planning
- Instructional Methods.
- Student Assessment.
- Problem Base Learning.
- community-oriented, problem- based learning (COME).
- Programme evaluation.
3.2. Promotion of academic advisory by conducting training courses to improve the staff and students communication skills and counseling ability:

Objective (4): Qualification of Health Professionals experts and specialists capable of leading innovation in Health Professions Education (HPE) and COME:

4.1. Provision of qualified Health Professionals experts and specialists capable of leading innovation in Health Professions Education (HPE) and COME; through designing and implementing post graduate programmes:
4.1.1. Master (MSc) in HPE.
4.1.2. PhD in HPE.
Objective (5): Promotion and development of methods and technologies in Health Professions scientific research, documentation and publication:
Strategies:
5.1. Enabling staff to and be able to carry out research in medical education by conducting regular workshops and training course:
5.1.1. Research methodology.
5.1.2. Scientific writing.
5.1.3. Research ethics.
5.1.4. End nod.
5.2. Contributing in developing the University of Gezira Research Themes and Priorities in Health and Health related sectors.
5.3. Supporting or directing research related to medical education.
Objective (6): Promotion and spreading the culture and concept of innovative Medical and Health Professions Education:
Strategies:
6.1. Helping other medical schools in COME/CBE/PBL curriculum Development.
6.2. Supporting evaluation of curricula of all Medical and Health Professions Schools with an objective of introducing COME/CBE/PBL in their objectives, implementation and evaluation.
6.3. Conducting national workshops on: COME/CBE/PBL to facilitate innovation in curricula of medical schools in Sudan and in the region.
Objective (7): Consultation, advisory and support on the work area\field of the center locally, regionally and internationally:
Strategies:
7.1. Inviting all academic staff members of all Medical and Health Faculties to participate in different activities and workshops held in the center.
7.2. Printing booklets and purchors.
7.3. Journal publications.
7.4. Conference presentations.
7.5. Websites.
Objective (8): Establishment of the basis of professionalism activation and support of inter-professional training and education and team approach:
Strategies:
8.1. Establishment of the basis of professionalism activation and support of inter-professional training and education and team approach.
Objective (9): Directing Medical and Health Professions Education to service the community in health in response to the social accountability:
Strategies:
9.1. Partnership with State Ministry of Health and related sectors in designing, implementing and evaluation of programs directed towards the community:
9.1.1. The Gezira initiative of safety motherhood and childhood.
9.1.2. The integrated programme for management of childhood diabetes.
9.2. Supporting state and national health programs and workshop:
9.2.1. State health insurance.
9.2.2. Malaria, AIDS and other peograms.
9.3. Strengthening the health area team approach to medical services.
Objective (10): Strengthening the existing links and creation of new links with related sectors in the university and similar centers locally, regionally and internationally. Collaborations with international institutes that are concerned with education and research in Medical and Health Professions:
Strategies:
10.1. Maintain the center designated as a WHO Collaborating Center.
10.2. Sharing experience with other EDCs in the Sudan and EMRO region.
Objective (11): Strengthening Student assessment:
Strategies:
11.1. Support of a clear written student assessment policy that is well aligned with Learning objectives and graduate competencies.
11.2. Development of assessment methods that are proven high reliability and validity.
11.3. Training teaching faculty in student assessment.
11.4. Development of assessment\questions banks.
11.5. Regularly testing the quality of student assessment tools.
11.6. Research targeting the instruction and assessment methods.
